Camino Coffee Roasters began as an idea in 2006 when founder / owner Andy Hay worked as a hiking guide for a non-profit adventure tourism organization based in the Guatemala highlands. All profits from the organization fund a school and dormitory for kids in need. Each week Andy would lead groups of tourists on three to five day treks through several coffee growing regions that produce some of the finest quality coffee beans on the planet. Seeing in person the intense labor that goes into farming and picking each bag of coffee beans deeply affected Andy.
After moving to the South Carolina Low Country, Andy founded Camino Coffee Roasters as a way to connect his experience in Central America with a passion for great coffee. We are dedicated purchasing high quality, fair-trade, and sustainably produced coffee beans. We believe that each bag of freshly roasted beans should not only hold a great cup of coffee, but should provide a means for individuals and communities to empower themselves. Ten percent of our profits are donated to grassroots NGOs that provide education and social development in coffee farming regions throughout the world.
